Skateboarding

DOCUMENTARY BY PIERRE ATELIER

"Hey Pierre! Tell us a little bit about your passion for skateboarding and the story you have documented."

"
I really don't know where to begin, but this video seems to be a good way to start...

Since being 15 years old, I am skateboarding regularly and as a passionate person, I travel with my friends all around the globe to find these urban places which are not intended to be skate on and try to make them "skatable" (I hope that makes sense to a normal person, haha).

So, this set of images is just a tiny collection of my whole work, I created in cities like San Francisco, Taiwan, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Barcelona, Cyprus, Paris (my hometown), Sicilia, Lisboa, Warsaw, Istanbul, Dubai, Berlin, Sarajevo, Jerusalem, London (and many more) over the last 3-4 years.

Most of the images are shot digital, some of them on film and even a few with a mobile phone.

Each picture is a long process. When we finally find the location, which we thought of in the beginning, it happens, that we can't start skateboarding and taking the photos. Sometimes the weather is bad, the background is not good enough or the season is not the right one, so we have to come back 3, 6 months later to get that "right" frame, we are looking for!"
