It's been an amazing journey with photography. I never thought I'd be doing what I'm doing now. I literally stumbled into becoming a photographer. It was one of those things that once you're in its hard not be inspired to grow. My focus since day 1 has been to be better than I was the last time I shot. I've been shooting for a little over 3 years now, and I've had my girlfriend, Carlyn Finke, with me every step of the way. She's pretty much done the makeup in every session I've shot. Together we make up "MAIIGO Photography," pronounced (My-Ego). With our styled shoots we want to show people how beautiful they are. Give them back their confidence and create images that make them say "Wow, thats me. I did it."
We named this session "The Modern Victorian." I didn't want to look at any inspiration for this shoot. I wanted to just create what came to my mind when I heard "Modern Victorian." The models, Emily Booker and Asia Lane Latt, were being eaten up by mosquitos the whole session, but they gave me exactly what I wanted without complaining! I already edited this whole session, but as I'm growing as a photographer, I'm starting to clearly see where I want my work to go. Then, I ran across VSCO FILM Users on facebook and was inspired by the look of just about every photo I'd seen on there. So here I am. Pulling up some old sessions and re-imagining them with VSCO.
For this shoot I knew one thing was for sure, I wanted a floating frame, and I wanted the grass or trees to be the oil painted canvas around a floating vase. I hung the frame on two light stands with fishing line and used photoshop to shop out the stands. In LR I used 400H ++ from pack 6 with some dark/light curve adjustments. I then brought it to ASE 6 for some grain and grunge overlaying. I also bumped up the saturation a tad in ASE.
