How did this image come to happen?
I took this photo last year on my first trip to Lower Antelope Canyon in Arizona. One of the things I love about slot canyons is that the light can change so dramatically just by changing your field of view ever so slightly. Every step you take brings a new perspective and it truly is an amazing experience. It really feels like you're on an exploration of sorts. I took this one towards the end of the tour when the crowds had dissipated and I was able to sneak away for a bit.
How do you feel about this photograph?
It's my favorite shot of the trip. I just love the way the light is peaking through the canyon, the texture of the sandstone, the color...everything!
What gear did you use and what were your settings?
- Canon 5D Mark II
- 28mm Lens
- 1/60
- f/2.8
- ISO 400
What editing process did the image go through?
I use Lightroom and pretty much always stick to the Portras in VSCO 06. For this shot I settled on Portra 400+1, adjusted the tone curve a bit, removed the grain, and added a slight brown/orange hue to the shadows.
