I took the long way round into wedding photography after a career as a designer for 12 years. My interest in weddings began whilst working as a designer on bridal magazines. Around that time my children were born and everything changed.

I picked up the camera again, purely to document as a mother and realised the impact photographs could have on the heart when loved ones were in the frame.

Some of the staff on the magazine noticed my photos and I started to get commissions. Since then I’ve never looked back.

With photography I felt something more than I ever felt as a designer, a fulfillment, a bliss, a heart-racing need. The fire was sparked, and it was deep within my soul. I have always struggled with words. It’s a discovery of pure joy when you realise you can communicate a feeling or a story with images alone, and others feel it too.

That universal connection leaves me in awe everytime. That’s not to say there aren’t vulnerable days when photography breaks my heart, and I’m walled up in frustration. It’s that ever-elusive perfection, always just beyond your grasp. And I can’t imagine a life without it.

I truly believe that the decisions you make in life, the experiences you have, the places you’ve been, the skills you acquire, all collide to make you the photographer that you are today.

I’m forever grateful for my life as a wedding photographer and being part of an ever- growing community who feel the same. I’m looking forward to sharing those passions and lighting some new fires in the forest.

Selected by Rangefinder Magazine as one of the top Rising Stars of Wedding Photography 2013, Paula has been commissioned to shoot weddings and bridal editorial all over Ireland and internationally. Her work has been featured in numerous magazines and online publications. She loves tea from the pot, Nutella, good books, big hugs, old photographs, fresh blooms, and long rambles in wild places.

Snap Photography Festival - 13th- 17th April 2015 - Wales (UK)

A world class line up, an epic party and the start of a new community:
Snap, the UK's first ever photography festival aimed at wedding and lifestyle photographers is taking place this April in Wales.

SNAP Photography Festival is a cross between a festival and a conference with camping, learning, networking and inspirational activities, for a gathering of 100 photographers from all over the UK and Europe.

Held at the beautiful Fforest resort, in West Wales, the festival will run to the same format as a music festival but is designed as an immersive learning and creative development experience for more than 100 photographers from all over the world.

Some of the world's most inspiring wedding photographers will be teaching alongside the UK's finest home grown talent, as well as photographers outside of the wedding genre.

“I attended Photo Field Trip in the US earlier this year and found it hugely inspiring. It was as far away from a corporate conference as you can get, with all of the teachers hanging out with the attendees, camp fires, parties and a completely unique, shared experience. I knew I had to bring something similar to the UK. As well as all of the amazing workshops and activities we’re planning, we’ll be having an epic closing party where campers can let off some steam before the start of the new wedding season.”

Attendees will stay on site in cosy glamping accommodation, complete with cosy wood-burning stoves and charging points for their smart phones.

There are also a number of non-residential tickets for people who don't fancy the full glamping experience.

The ticket price includes workshops covering everything from branding to a late night astrophotography walk, as well as inspiring talks from photographers including Sam Hurd, Ross Harvey, Dylan and Sara and Lomo Kev.

As well as the amazing learning experiences on offer the ticket price (residential) also includes three locally produced meals per day and access to the closing night party where the legendary Disco Shed will have attendees dancing into the night.
