The featured artist for the past month of April, is the amazing Seth Langner. Seth was the obvious choice for us with his constant stream of amazing imagery that he provided in the past weeks. Let's see who he is and what he has to say to us !
Hey Seth, where do you live and how old are you?
I live in Jacksonville ( Florida ) and according to experts, and by experts I mean the Sun and the Earth that orbits around it, I’m 42, but, shhhhhh- I’m really only 22. At least, that’s how I feel.
What kind of equipment are you using at the moment?
I live and die by the Nikon D610 and Siggy 35 1.4. ( Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art )
How did you become a photographer?
From an early age I’ve been involved in the arts in one form or another, beginning mostly with stage acting throughout my formative years, then a lot of terrible drawing and writing in my twenties, then returning to the stage and dabbling in film production and photography in my late thirties. Like most folks, I’ve been snapping photos my whole life, and always enjoyed it, but I really fell in love with it - became somewhat obsessed even - over the last several years. People saw my photos, then some asked if I would take theirs, even offering me money! What a concept, right? And there you have it. And so, increasingly, as time goes by, I earn a few shekels here and there doing what I love. And that’s a beautiful thing.
What work do you mostly do?
Well, as mentioned, I’m still in the early stages of what I hope will be a long - if not moderately profitable, somewhat storied - photographic adventure, but most recently I’ve done family portraits, some commercial work for local businesses, a couple of weddings, etc. But beyond all that, I work and occasionally succeed at creating something meaningful every day, both through the lens and with the people with whom I share this messed-up, beautiful world. And I love it. Love. It.
What do you think of LLF?
LooksLikeFilm is a veritable cornucopia of visual deliciousness, an inexhaustible wellspring of jaw-dropping inspiration. I mean it. The ways in which VSCO Group, LooksLikeFilm and all the artists participating in these communities have helped improve the quality my own work cannot be measured. Plus, you guys are hilarious. Yeah, no, seriously. I love you guys. ( We forced him to say this ;) )
What are your plans for the future?
I spent a month in India and Nepal last year. I’m going back, staying longer, traveling wider, documenting the shit out of every amazing thing I encounter and the people I meet. Then, who knows . . .
